About The Freelance Calculator

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower freelancers with the financial literacy and tools they need to build a sustainable and profitable business. We believe that financial clarity is the foundation of a successful freelance career, and we're here to make that clarity accessible to everyone.

My Story

Hi everyone! I'm studying development and also exploring the world of freelancing. Like many freelancers starting out, I was frustrated with the fact of having to do my own accounting and the lack of transparent, easy-to-use tools for calculating my rates. The existing tools were often overly simplistic, or were bloated with "pro" upsells.

I realized that what I needed wasn't just a number, but an understanding of the "why" behind that number. Why do I need to charge so much more than an equivalent salaried employee? How do I account for taxes, business expenses, and my own salary?

So, I decided to build my own the tool. The Freelance Calculator was born out of that frustration and a desire to create something genuinely helpful for the freelance community (and a personal project to practice myself). This is free project.

Our Mission: Financial Clarity for Freelancers

Hi there. I'm a developer and lifelong student. When I started my freelance journey, I was immediately confronted with a daunting question: "What should I charge?"

I realized that what I needed wasn't just another calculator, but a transparent educational tool. So I decided to create it myself, for the community. I've also included some research I've done during this journey into the freelance world on the blog.

A Tool Built on Trust

The Freelance Calculator was born out of that frustration, with a few core principles:

This is a free project built for the community. It's for the designer who's tired of being underpaid, the writer who's unsure how to account for taxes, and the developer who just wants to build great things without financial stress.
